Manual wheelchairs: support when someone pushes or you propel yourself

The manual wheelchair is the option when you need to sit for transport but still have strength in your arms (or a caregiver pushes). It's more economical than an electric one and lighter for transportation — but it requires more physical effort.

Buy or rent — day, week, or month. You can rent an eligible product (more than $500 MXN; accessories from $3,000 MXN) and, if you decide to buy it, what you've already paid for the rental will be credited towards the purchase. You only pay the difference and keep the product.

Who are they ideal for?

When to buy?

Choose manual wheelchair if travel is occasional or if a family member/caregiver accompanies you. If you get tired pushing or stop going out due to effort, upgrade to electric or combine with walker for short distances.

How to choose the right model

Self-propelled vs transfer

Self-propelled models have large rear wheels; manual ones are lighter for pushing.

Folding and weight

For car or plane travel, look for ultra-light folding models. For daily fixed use, prioritize seat comfort.

Width and access

Measure doors and bathrooms at home. A narrow wheelchair makes daily life easier.

Frequently asked questions

Manual wheelchair or walker first?

If you still walk with support, a vertical walker usually keeps you active. A manual wheelchair comes into play when walking is no longer viable for mobility.
